REVIEW AND LESSONS FROM PROCEEDINGS OF THE GLOBAL WOMEN’S CONCLAVE – 2021

REVIEW SUMMARY

The Proceedings of the Global Women’s Conclave-2021 encapsulate the discussions and deliberations from a significant global event held virtually on December 19, 2021. Titled “Virtual International Conference on Women’s Social and Economical Issues and Challenges”, this publication is edited by Dr. Subathra Chelladurai and published by the Association for Women Empowerment and Child Development (Of By And For You Trust & Publication®), based in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, India. The event and the publication aim to highlight the pressing social and economic barriers women face globally.

INFERRED STRENGTHS

Timely Focus:
Conducted in 2021, the conference likely tackled intensified gender-specific challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, such as economic setbacks, increased caregiving roles, and surges in gender-based violence.
Global and Virtual Reach:
The inclusion of the terms “Global” and “Virtual” implies a wide international scope, allowing for diverse representation and participation despite geographic limitations.
Dual Focus on Social and Economic Issues:
The conference’s thematic emphasis on both social and economic challenges reflects a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted nature of gender inequality—addressing both cultural norms and systemic economic barriers.

Global South Perspectives:
Being published in South India, the proceedings may offer nuanced insights rooted in Global South experiences, which are often underrepresented in global policy discourses.

Credible Institutional Backing:
The involvement of a specialized body—Association for Women Empowerment and Child Development—suggests a commitment to long-term advocacy, community impact, and scholarly engagement.

RECOGNIZED LIMITATIONS

Without access to the actual proceedings, it’s not possible to evaluate:

The depth, originality, or academic rigor of the individual papers or presentations.

The breadth and inclusivity of participants (geographical, sectoral, or demographic diversity).

Actionable outcomes, recommendations, or policy frameworks shared during the conclave.

The editorial structure or coherence across various contributions.

KEY LESSONS

Intersectionality Matters:
Social and economic challenges for women are deeply interconnected. Addressing economic disparities requires understanding cultural and social norms that limit women’s participation and agency.
Gender Inequality is a Global Issue:
The convening of a global conclave emphasizes that systemic gender disparities exist across borders, requiring collaborative global-local solutions.

Pandemic Effects on Women Must Be Central to Recovery:
Holding this conclave in late 2021 hints at a critical evaluation of how COVID-19 disproportionately impacted women — from job losses to heightened domestic burdens.

Diverse Voices Fuel Change:
The virtual format likely enabled voices from underserved or marginalized communities to contribute, reinforcing the importance of inclusive global dialogue.

Knowledge Sharing is Power:
Publishing the proceedings is an essential step toward democratizing information, shaping policy, and empowering activists, researchers, and stakeholders working on gender equity.

Think Global, Act Local:
The combination of a global conference with a local publishing house in Kanyakumari emphasizes that global themes must be translated into context-specific strategies rooted in local realities.

CONCLUSION

The Proceedings of the Global Women’s Conclave-2021 offer a potentially rich resource capturing a pivotal moment in global gender discourse. While this review is based only on the cover page, the event’s timing, theme, and institutional affiliations indicate a valuable effort to interrogate and address women’s social and economic challenges through research, collaboration, and advocacy. Access to the full content would provide deeper insights into the discussions, proposed solutions, and transformative ideas presented at the conclave.
